In Memory

Crossed the Rainbow Bridge 04/09/19.

As a rescue sanctuary, where every animal gets to live until the end of their life, this page is dedicated to the memory of those                 we've loved
Zhum
Zhum is the horse that started HDR.  A 19 year old Arabian gelding and son of Pliska, Zhum was an anniversary gift to Bernadette from John, and the rest was history.  You could always find him leading the herds in from pasture at full speed, with his head and tail up high. What started as a gift of love, in our hearts forever.

Gryphon Crossed the Rainbow Bridge March 2023
Gryphon came to HDR for a short visit, but ended up staying after his owner decided that we were the best place for him.  OTTB, he is the lead gelding of his herd, and a consummate gentleman about all of his duties.  Gryphon had a lot to give to anybody who listened.

Sandi Arab/Paint mix.   Crossed the Rainbow Bridge February 2022.  A message from HDR Volunteer Sue G: "Sandi came into my life soon after she called HDR her new home.  We formed a wonderful healing relationship over the years, and our connection was very apparent to those who knew us.  I loved her so much and the healing bond was special.  I especially loved the way she'd nuzzle me and rest her head on my back ... she taught me so much that I'm a better person for it.  God Bless you sweet girl...you'll forever be a part of who I am"

Cactus is an elderly Donkey gentleman, who came to live at HDR with two other senior horses, several years ago.  His mischievous ways was always a delight to volunteers, and he is quite the talker when he gets started.  Crossed the Rainbow Bridge 12/26/19.
